The Chinese Panda and his Big News

Once upon a time there was a young black and white panda bear that lived in China. His name was Xing Poa. Xing Poa was a very kindhearted small bear that loved to hang around on trees in the forest. The green swampy forest was his home. His mother and father always had work to do within the forest, so Xing Poa decided to go have some fun.
He climbed and climbed and climbed as high as he could climb up the tallest tree in the forest. The bark was brown and a little soggy from the moisture in the air, but the trunk was very strong and tough. When he reached the very top of the tree, he saw construction vehicles in the distance on bare ground.
“Oh no!” cried Xing Poa. “What could they possibly be going to do? This was not good” As Xing Poa climbed down the tall tree and started looking around, and saw the mark of a red x on one of the bamboo trees. Then he saw another and another. Pretty soon their whole bamboo forest would be marked all over in red x’s and Xing Poa’s family would have no other place to go. Xing Poa ran to bread the big new to his parents.
“Mom! Dad! There are humongous construction vehicles just outside of the forest! What shall we do?” exclaimed Xing Poa worriedly.
“I know what to do,” replied Dad in his strong determined voice. “We are going to build a large sign made out of tree trunks, twigs and leaves. “The sign will read stop! It will be placed out right in front of the forest for all workers to see, and we as a determined family will stand right in front of the sign.”
“Great idea honey, but isn’t that dangerous?” said Mom with concern.
“Yes it might be, but that risk we will have to take if we are going to have any chance in transforming the minds of these workers in their overpowering construction vehicles. “Replied Dad.
The next day the Chinese pandas started to build the sign, and by the end of the day it was finished.” S.T.O.P. that spells stop.” Read Xing Poa. That night everyone tried to dream a sweet dream although the thought of tomorrow troubled them.
The day of destruction had come. Xing Poa and his family quickly woke up out of their slumber and hurried to the front of the forest where they waited to be approached. The stood in front of their sign a couple yards away from the vehicles. The men looked puzzled. What on earth could these crazy little pandas be trying to get across to the workers?
The workers were ready to destroy the forest. They turned on their vehicles. Many roaring sounds came out of them, but the Chinese pandas were not budging. The men came to the conclusion that these pandas had persevered, and would not give up their supply of bamboo in their forest. Their main source of food was bamboo. The men were surprised that the pandas had even built a sign to show the workers how much they wanted to keep their forest. They realized that the Chinese pandas really needed the forest more than the men did, and they left with their roaring vehicles.
The pandas shouted and danced around with joy. Xing Poa’s family was safe, their home was no longer in danger and the bamboo forest was not destroyed.
