Numbers
0
Zero is the undefined god
Not truly even or truly Owhen you talk and when you sing
Yet is the easiest numbodd
It can pass through any number
And leave it unchanged
Or slide in place beside it
And make it bigger and rearranged
1
One is the basic building block
Of every known thing
As hard to understand
As the difference er to count and find
There really is no other of its kind
2
Two is balance between it all
When you dispute over things it will call,
“Break it in half
And you’ll get me
Our share of it all
Split equally.”
3
Three is power
At nine it will glower
And three will say,
“There can only be
One top of the triangle
And that will be me!”
4
Four worships two
And serves her true
Four brings into play
The third dimension
Its equal shapes
A cube, I might mention?
5
Five is simple and can always fit into it
The friendship between even and odd is through it
Five is odd
But always a friend
It fits so well and
Helps you count quickly to the end
6
Six is even, but friends with 9 and 3
But they’re so powerful, six is overlooked easily
It’s not really close to 2, 4, and 8
Though she is even
She’s a big sister to 5
And a little sister to 7
7
Seven depends on its luck
To make sure that it’s never stuck
Though close to ten
It's not really extraordinary
If it weren't such good friends with chance,
It would be quite ordinary.
8
Eight is a silent queen
Even tempered, never mean
But never forget her power
And never try to erase
Her throne or try to steal
Her high and noble place
9
Nine is very difficult to understand
He thinks himself, not 10, should be in command
He loathes 10…
And yet looks up to him, too
Many days he'll say to himself
“10, I wish I were you!”
10
Ten holds it all together
An umbrella for bad weather
He's always happy to help;
He has never refused
To make things easier for you
When you’re frustrated and confused
