The Camera and the Fame
By Christian ( Schenectady)
Leon ran up to Louis and said, “Hey Louis, I’m sorry for what I’ve done. Are we still cool?”
“Yea, but I will never forgive you,” Louis said.
“I have an idea, why won’t you try to be in the Major Leagues?” Leon said with a weird smile.
“Sure,” Louis said.
While they were walking home, Leon said “Why won’t you be a batter?”
“Sure Leon, WHAT ARE YOU NUTS? I NEVER WANTED TO BE A BATTER!” Louis said with his face red.
“But Louis, I’m going to help you with-“
Louis Interrupted Leon and said, “NO! NO! NO! I’M SICK OF HEARING IT! I’M GOING TO BED! You know what; let’s discuss this tomorrow before my head explodes.”
The next day, Louis was finally calm and trying to forget about what happened with he and Leon. “Louis!” A voice came from across the street; it was Leon with Steven Johnson, someone that Louis has a bad history with. Louis had an argument with Steven in high school because he was trying to get with every single woman that Louis was friends with. Louis told him, Louis just saw Steven kissing someone and her face expression is like she never wanted to kiss him. Louis ran up to Steven while he was making out. “What are you doing Steven? Leave her alone!” Then Louis punched Steven in the face and made him fall to the ground.
Louis said, “Hey Leon, Steven Johnson. I remember when I knocked you out in High School, its funny when you stayed in the Nurse’s office for the whole day. What part of your face was swollen? Oh yea, your eye was swollen, your cheek was bruised, and your jaw was cracked.”
“Leon, why do you still hang out with this bastard? And what are you talking about; I wasn’t even ready for that fight.” Steven said with an angry voice.
“He’s my friend, why would I stop hanging out with Louis. I owe him something now because I made him get off the team. And just to tell the both of you, I didn’t want to ruin my friendship with one of you.” Leon said.
“Wait a second Leon, how about when you owed me?” Steven said.
“Look Steven, you’re my friend, but I’ve been hanging out with Louis ever since you went to Puerto Rico for 3 months.” Steven revealed.
Louis just said, “Shut up!” and punched him in the face again, but harder than the one he did at the high school.
“That’s for you taking my girlfriend in high school,” Louis said.
Leon and Louis ran away from the scene while Steven was on the ground like a dead chicken. Louis went to the empty Mets Stadium. Then a janitor came through the door and said, “Name please.”
“Uh…Derek Jeter sir, I came here to join them,” Leon said. “Derek Jeter is finally going to join the Mets.” The Janitor said. Wow he actually believed that Leon was Derek Jeter. This got to be on the internet, Louis thought in his head. They were walking to the field and saw a bright light. “I can’t believe it.” Louis said with a shocked voice. Leon got out his camera and is finally going to make a video. “Hi my name is Louis, and this is my first time batting.” Leon drops the camera to throw the ball to Leon and there goes a home run. “Beginner’s luck,” said Leon. Then Leon kept throwing the ball to Louis and made four home runs in a row. “Cool Louis, you were born to be a batter,” Leon let out.
“So Leon, how do you put videos on the internet?” Louis said.
“You go on LoopTube, make your own account, upload it, and stand back and watch the views.” Leon said. “Tell me your username and password to keep an eye on your videos.”
“My username is LouisSantos20 and password is Homerun4,”Louis said. One month has passed and Louis checked his views, only 1,000 views. Then Louis went to see the info on his videos and notice the video was on private, he left it like that and planned to keep an eye on the video. While Louis was walking to the stadium, he saw Steven and Leon fighting some minor. Louis remembered him from the high school; he always got bullied by Steven and Leon during Senior Year. “Leave him alone, what did he do to you,” shouted Louis.
“Nothing, he’s fun to beat up,” said Steven with a little smile.
“How about me and the Junior High kid beat you up,” said Louis. Then the high school student did the first punch on Steven. Then after that, Louis ran up to Steven and kicked him right in the jaw.
“What are you doing Leon? Why are you abusing this minor, you can go to jail. Just leave him.” Louis was interrupted by Leon. “I don’t care what you say, you’re not my brother. I can beat you up if I want to. You made the biggest mistake Louis, now you’re going to pay.” The cops came when the junior high student was making sure Steven went to the hospital.
“Hey what are you doing, stop it,” shouted the cop. Then he took out his gun and aimed at both Steven and the minor.
“Stay right there.” Louis interrupted the cop.
“Sorry to interrupt you sir, but these two men were fighting a minor for no reason. They always bullied him while they were in high school. Arrest these two, not the minor; he was using his self defense.”
“What is your name child?”The cop said and Louis let it out.
“My name is Louis Santos, and I’m 20 years old, from the Bronx.”
Then the minor said, “My name is Patrick Carlson, and I’m 17 years old. I’m from Brooklyn.”
The cop said, “Both of you show me your ID.” Patrick and Louis gave the cop their ID and checked it. “Okay you’re free to go; I’m just giving a warning to the both of you.”
Patrick ran away and the cop stopped Louis for a second and told him, “Hey, aren’t you the guy on LoopTube?”
Louis just said, “What video? Was it a baseball video of me getting four home runs?”
The cop said with excitement, “It’s you, me and my cop buddies saw that. Can you show us live because one of our members said that it’s fake.” Louis said, “If you want to see me doing a home run hit, come to the old baseball field at 6:00 pm tonight.”
Six o’ clock now and Louis was waiting for the cops to come. They finally arrived five minutes later. Finally! What were they doing? Having a coffee at Starbucks? Louis thought in his head. “I don’t believe it of you doing a home run,” The cranky cop said.
“Oh really, someone pitch.”
A cop came to get the ball. He threw the ball as hard as he can and Louis made a home run. “This rookie can’t get another home run,” The cranky cop said with jealousy. Then the cop threw the ball at Louis and he got another home run.
Louis said, “I’m going home now, need some spicy tuna.” Then Louis went in his car and drove home. Then Louis discovered his video was deleted.
Many comments broke loose on his page saying, “What happened to the video?” Louis called the FBI to find out what happened to the video. “Can you scan the last IPs on this account?” said Louis.
“Okay the last IP on this was 21.9033.520. It says the name and address of the house, do you want to know what his name is?” The man on the phone said. “Yes, I need to know who hacked my account.” Louis said. “The name of the man who hacked your account and deleted your video is Leon Sanders.” The man said and Louis paused. “Um sir, are you there?”
“I’m going to call the police station to tell them.” Louis hung up and called the police.
“New York Police Department, what are you calling for?” The officer on the phone said.
“Yes, I’m calling for Leon Sander’s release from jail,” Louis said.
“He got out two hours ago. Why?” The officer said.
“He needs to be in jail again. He hacked into my account. He lives on 32 12th street; his number is 718-555-2362. Just get him.” Louis hung up and thought in his head, I’m going to stay with Raymond in Schenectady for awhile. Louis just packed up, got in his car and drove off. He called Raymond and told him, “Hey Raymond! I’m going to stay at your house for a few days.”
Raymond said, “Okay bro, but don’t bother me over here.” A few hours later, he finally made it to Schenectady, went to Raymond’s house, and knocked on his door.
“Hey Raymond, open up. Raymond. RAYMOND!” Louis almost lost his temper and he opened up his door.
“Hey Louis, my brother, come in. Use the visitors’ room.” Raymond walked him to the visitor room. “Make yourself at home.” Louis lay down on the bed and called Leon, “Leon, the cops are searching for you. And you find me, you’re done.” Louis hung up instantly and went to sleep.
Weeks went by and all Louis was doing was drinking and playing baseball with his brother. “Hey Louis, want to smoke weed,” Raymond said with his eyes closed.
“No, I drink beer, but don’t smoke.” Then Louis walked outside and saw someone he hadn’t seen for weeks. It was Leon. “Leon, I warned you, if you come any closer I’m going to…” Louis paused and saw Leon pulling out a Magnum Pistol and aimed at him.
“Raymond! Give me my MP40, Desert Eagle, and ammo. It’s war time.” Raymond’s friends Nora and Joanie came to the house and saw that Louis and Leon are pointing guns at each other.
“That’s the guy that made my brother be at the hospital a few weeks ago, and now he’s in prison. I’m going to call the Schenectady Police,” Nora said. “Don’t Nora, it’s going to get ugly,” Joanie begged.
“Yo Raymond, call the NYC Police, it’s on my caller ID.” Louis said. When Raymond called the New York City Police, they said that they’ll be coming on helicopter. Then Raymond and his weed buddies came out of the house with a gun. Then the shoot-out began. The Schenectady Cops came to stop them a few minutes later.
The NYC Police came and told the Schenectady Police, “Sorry, but these two are having problems right now and LOUIS PUT YOUR GUN DOWN AND YOU TOO LEON,” said the NYPD Cop. Then everything stopped until Raymond got his AK-47 and shot Leon.
“You’re under arrest for killing someone,” The Schenectady Cop said.
“Sorry Raymond,” Said Louis.
One month passed since Leon’s death and Louis was still making videos. The videos’ views went to the 10,000s. Louis wondered if that minor, Patrick, was okay. So Louis just got his phone book and found his number.
“Hello?” A voice came.
“Is this Patrick?” Louis said.
“Who is this?” The person on the phone said.
“This is Louis Santos, I was checking if he’s okay,” Louis said.
“Oh Louis, I thought it was you. It’s Patrick, thanks so much for helping me out.” Patrick said.
“Yea, I see that you’re okay.” Louis said.
“Well I got to go, school starts in an half an hour,” Patrick said.
“Ok, bye.” Louis said and hung up.
Louis was just getting out of his house and some man went up to Louis and said, “Hi, are you Louis Santos,” said the man.
“Yes, why?” Louis wondered.
“I’m from the Mets and wanted to know if you wanted to be in the Mets,” the man said.
“Yes sir,” Louis said with excitement.
“Okay, let’s see if your good later at the Mets Stadium,” The man said.
The phone rang, “Louis,” said the mysterious caller. “It’s me Joanie, Nora and Raymond were killed. I’m going to New York City to stay at your house. And Louis, watch out.” Louis just went in his car, nervously and drove to the stadium.
Louis made 2 home runs in a row. “Nice Louis, you’re better than these players,” said the man that came to Louis’s house. Hours passed and the game started, the Mets had 4 points and the Red Sox had 8, the base was full. The crowd chanted, “We want Louis” and clapping. “You’re in Santos,” said the coach. The crowd chanted hard and Louis was one hundred percent ready. The man on the other team had the number 55 on his shirt. Then Louis was ready and thought to himself, I wonder if I can do it. Wonder who Joanie was talking about. Who would kill Raymond and Nora? The ball went to Louis and the announcer said, “Home Run! Home Run! Eight to Eight! It’s a tie.
Now a man from the Mets that was wearing number 13 was batting. And he made a home run and the Mets won. The crowd screamed and chanted.
The team picked Louis up and someone missed a gun shot at Louis. Everyone ran out of the arena. “It can’t be, Steven.” Then Louis was running while he was shooting at him. Louis ran to the car and got his gun and shot directly at his head.
Joanie ran up to Louis and said, “Thank God you’re still alive.” And Joanie gave Louis a victory kiss. They went to the house and Louis said, “Man what a year, I lost a friend, a brother, and killed Steven. You lost Nora and I’m very sorry what happened.” Someone knocked on Louis’s door, and it was paparazzi asking him many questions. Louis said, “I’m going to bed and enjoy my fame.”
A week later, Louis went to Raymond’s funeral. He put flowers near his coffin and said, “I wish you were here bro, life got a little tough ever since I became a Major League Baseball player. Just telling you, I’m moving out of the city and moving to the capital. I’ll always come and visit.” Louis just left Schenectady and left to the capital.
Louis went out with Joanie and moved to Albany. He was finally enjoying his fame, but still missed his friends and family. Louis went to acting school at the age of 24. Joanie was now unemployed because Louis was now famous. Louis always visited Raymond’s grave.
